Dr. John Amato

Speech Language Pathologist

is a speech-language pathologist who is licensed by New York State and Certified by the American Speech-Language Hearing Association. He holds a doctoral degree from Columbia University in speech pathology and neuroscience and has over 30 years of clinical and research
experience. Dr. Amato is a recipient of the Mimi Katzen Memorial Award for Clinical Excellence, presented by The Long Island Speech-Language-Hearing Association, and is a certified provider of the Lee Silverman Voice Therapy Program for individuals with Parkinson’s Disease. Dr. Amato is a tenured professor at a leading Long Island University and has held faculty and research appointments at Albert Einstein College of Medicine, Center for Cranio Facial Disorders, as well as within the departments of Neurology, child psychiatry, and surgery, at Stony Brook University School of Medicine. Dr. Amato specializes in the evaluation and treatment of adults and children who are experiencing a variety of speech, swallowing, voice, language, and cognitive disorders, including speech and swallowing disorders in those who may be experiencing head and neck cancer.

Dr. Amato, who has an extensive musical background, also has expressed interest in the evaluation and treatment of patients with voice disorders who are performance voice users, including actors, singers, as well as radio and TV announcers, who because of their voice disorder may be unable to pursue their professional careers or avocations.

Jason Fernandes, Speech Language Pathologist, is trilingual, speaking English, Spanish, and Portuguese. Jason studied at Southampton Hospital, specializing in the treatment of motor planning and neurological disorders. He has an expertise in treating children and adolescents with Autism Spectrum Disorder.

Luke has been a practicing speech therapist for 9 years. His specialties and interests include swallowing disorders, speech and language disorders, stroke recovery and aural rehabilitation. He is from Lyons, NY and holds a masters from Gallaudet University.
